How to keep your kettle in top shape
If your commercial kettle sees a lot of use, then you know how quickly it can start to develop build-up. If this occurs, it can lead to a sour taste or leave an unpleasant residue inside your beverages. That's why it's important to keep your kettle well maintained, and empty it after each use so that it can be rinsed and cleaned thoroughly.
Here are a few helpful hints on how to keep your kitchen kettle in pristine condition so that you won't have to invest in a replacement any time soon:
1. Empty your kettle after each use, or if you're only boiling water, after each day. This will prevent a slimy residue from forming along the kettle walls. To do this, you may need to invest in a kettle drain, which is a small cart on wheels that hold the expelled liquid, and includes a drainpipe so that it can be easily emptied.
2. Get into the habit if descaling your kettle on a regular basis to remove the alkaline build-up that will eventually alter the taste of your kettle offerings. You can do this by bringing the contents to a boil and adding either lemon juice or vinegar - then drain the kettle again and give it a good scrub and rinse.
